# Business Model Overview

PostCash operates on two distinct levels that must be understood separately.

## Level 1 — Platform Layer

At the platform layer, PostCash charges instance operators for infrastructure usage.

* **Creation fee** — Merchant, per funded cheque. Collected via on-chain SPL delegate transfer.
* **Claim fee** — End-user, deducted from cheque value. Embedded in the on-chain transaction.
* **Changelly markup** — End-user, via inflated exchange rate. Built into the Changelly quote.
* **Bridge developer fee** — End-user, added to the USD amount. Collected by [Bridge.xyz](http://Bridge.xyz) and remitted.
* **Breakage (future)** — Merchant, for expired funded cheques. Planned for Phase 2.

## Level 2 — Distribution Layer

At the distribution layer, the instance acts as the **Issuer** and distributes USDC cheques through a merchant network under an **agency agreement**. The cheque face value is treated as a commodity: merchants take it on consignment, incur obligations, and settle with the issuer periodically.

## Summary

PostCash billing is split into two parallel models:

* The **platform layer** captures infrastructure and transaction-related fees.
* The **distribution layer** governs how issuers, merchants, settlements, and rebates work operationally.
