# Billing Mode Feature Flag

`billing_mode` in `instances.settings` (feature flag):

| Mode | Description | Status |
| :- | :- | :- |
| `on_chain` | Fees auto-collected per cheque via SPL delegate | Implemented |
| `invoice` | Fees accumulated, invoiced monthly, collected off-chain | Scaffolded, not enforced |
| `hybrid` | On-chain for creation, invoice for others | Planned |

When `billing_mode = 'invoice'`: `collectCreationFee()` should skip the on-chain transfer and set `collection_status = 'invoiced'` instead. The fee then appears in the monthly invoice as a line item for off-chain collection. This gate is not yet implemented.
